Question to ask

October 23 2002 |

When you're applying for a loan, don't let the lender ask all the questions ... ask some for yourself. Here are some suggestions:

Can I pay my mortgage monthly, fortnightly and weekly?

What are the application fees?

What are the valuation fees?

What are the legal fees?

What are the ongoing fees?

What are the discharge fees?

What are the early-exit fees?

Is it possible to switch loan types?

Will I need mortgage insurance? If yes, how much?

Are there any other fees associated with your loans?

What are the differences between your loans?

Do you have combination loans?

Can I make extra repayments?

Can I redraw?

Can I take a repayment holiday?

What if I make a late repayment?
