What you'll need

When you apply for a home loan you'll need to supply your potential lender with an array of information about yourself. Here's a checklist of what you'll need:

Income

Details of your income including:

Evidence of your salary that will usually mean two recent payslips and group certificates from the last two years

If you're self-employed you'll need to provide a little more information: your last two tax returns and your accountant's contact details

Details of income from other areas like rental property and dividends

Assets

Details of any assets that you own including:

Investments

Savings accounts

Life insurance and superannuation policies

Other items such as cars and jewellery

Expenditure

Details of monthly:

Living expenses – food, utilities, petrol, clothing, etc

Credit card limit(s)

Rent details

Family payments

Liabilities

Details of any debt that you have accrued such as:

Personal loans

Vehicle finance

Credit card limit(s)

Department store cards

Other mortgages
