Dianna and Gianni Marion have been married for almost three years. But discovering their differing money values was a complete surprise.
She is driven by freedom. He values security. This revelation helped the couple identify obstacles, become more positive and stay in financial control.
Completing the "Financially Free" workshop with Marie Farrugia was the catalyst for positive change in the couple's relationship.
Six months after the course, Dianna opened her own natural therapy business at home and the couple are dabbling in property investment.
"We wouldn't have done any of this sort of stuff if it hadn't been for the course. It was definitely the catalyst for change for us, because for the first time we knew what we had to do to become financially free," Dianna says.
Money can cause tension in any relationship and the Marions were no exception.
"Money could be a volatile subject between us so it was very valuable for us to do the course together. We realised what our money values were and, for the first time, we were able to understand why we had different views on money. It was very significant for us to find that out," Dianna says. "Marie also helped us to understand that having different values wasn't negative because we had balance."

Dianna says her husband, a Qantas flight attendant, has become more of a "freedom" thinker when dealing with money while she has developed a new respect for cash and possessions and is now more responsible.
"I think one of the best decisions we made was to do this together. The very next day I sat down with my husband and worked on our budget. It was something I had steered away from for many years. It was a valuable process which brought us closer together on a whole new level."
