Property surveyor

Can you tell me how I find a suitable surveyor in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne?

Q.

An article I read mentions a "depreciation report from a quantity surveyor". We are buying a rental property and would like to avail ourselves of this service. Can you tell me how I find a suitable surveyor in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne? Is there an umbrella organisation that I could contact or a website to visit?

A.

I agree that a quantity surveyor's report should pay for itself in the first year, especially as the cost is tax deductible. If you look in the Yellow Pages under quantity surveyors you will find a full list. It may be best to prefer those who highlight the term "depreciation schedules".
