Investing shares

Is now a good time to invest in shares?

Q.

In light of the uncertain economic outlook, would you be able to offer some advice on whether now is a good time to invest in shares?

A.

Unfortunately nobody rings a bell at the top or bottom of the market but history tells us that the market, having bottomed, never fails to exceed its previous high point. Of course you would need to have a five to ten year timeframe in mind to give yourself time to ride out the inevitable market downturns.
