What are good investment options at the moment?

Q.

I'm a 19 year old full time student, and I've just inherited about $20,000. I'm looking to invest, initially for a period of about three to five years, and was wondering what investments would be ideal to mature at this time.

A.

For a period of 5 years you may do well by investing in a quality Australian Share Trust, provided you are prepared to hang in there when the market has one of its normal downturns. If your goals change and you start saving for a home deposit you may reconsider your strategy at that time and move the money into a high earning interest bearing account.
