Market crash

Could you possibly give us your assessment of the current situation which seems to get worse by the week?

Q.

My allocated pension funds have dwindled alarmingly in the last few months and I am seriously thinking of withdrawing the balance and simply putting it in the bank. No doubt there are many others in my position at present. Could you possibly give us your assessment of the current situation which seems to get worse by the week?

A.

Remember the sharemarket has never failed to reach a new height after a severe fall as we are experiencing now. We all know the market will return, the question is when, so I suggest you keep at least three years planned expenditure in cash while you are awaiting the recovery. Just make sure you check with your adviser to ensure your funds are performing at least as well as their peers.
