Salary sacrificing into Managed Funds

Noel Whittaker | March 12 2008 | The Sydney Morning Herald & The Age (subscribe)

Can I salary sacrifice into a managed fund that requires regular contributions?

Q.

Can I salary sacrifice into a managed fund that requires regular contributions? Can you please outline which funds do that?

A.

Unless you work for a non profit organisation, you will be penalised if you salary sacrifice into a managed fund unless it is a superannuation fund and you are making salary sacrificed contributions into it. Be aware that money in super is inaccessible until you reach preservation age which is at least 55.
