Credit card charges

Noel Whittaker | February 21 2007 | The Sydney Morning Herald & The Age (subscribe)

Q.

My fiance and I are getting married next year and are both paying off closed down credit cards. I noticed that the interest rates are quite high on both cards. Is there any way of consolidating these into one payment, or lowering the interest rate on them as we are not using them anymore?

A.

You could go to www.cannex.com.au where credit cards are compared and it may be possible to transfer the outstanding balances to one of the banks like BankWest that have lower ongoing interest rates and not just a honeymoon rate to get you in.
