Saving for baby

Noel Whittaker | February 14 2007 | The Sydney Morning Herald & The Age (subscribe)

Q.

I have a newborn baby who I want to start a saving account for. I plan to deposit a small amount each week and have $10,000 to give her at the age of 18. Which bank is the best for this and how do I set up such an account?

A.

You can't go past the online accounts being offered by institutions like Bank West and HSBC. They pay a high rate of interest with total security and there are no fees.
